Overview

Parents may be eligible to migrate to Australia with a Parent Visa if their child (natural, adopted or step-child) is living in Australia and is an Australian citizen, a Permanent Resident of Australia or an eligible New Zealand citizen. Moreover, dependents who are under 23-year-old can be included with your application.

What can you do with a Parent Visa?

Except for the 870, 884 and 173 Visas, the other visas will give you Permanent Resident status. This means you can enrol to Medicare but you are not eligible to receive welfare or other payments such as a pension from Centrelink.
